Sudbury CPC takes presentations on $1.4 million in FY25 funding requests

SUDBURY -- November 15, 2023, Sudbury CPC previews $1.36 million in FY25 funding requests across four projects. At the first of two public hearings Nov. 15, the Community Preservation Committee took presentations on a $450,000 Sudbury Housing Authority request to convert two single-family homes at 21 Great Lake Drive and 8 Oakwood Avenue into four duplex units; a $33,000 Regional Housing Services Office membership fee (with another $43,000 coming through the Sudbury Housing Trust); roughly $80,000 in artesian well and shed costs to serve community gardens at Lincoln Meadows and a new garden at Broad Acres; and a $400,000 Wayside Inn Road bridge superstructure rebuild four years after a July 2019 crash sheared off its granite parapet. Chair Sherrill P. Cline, who also serves as Sudbury Housing Authority liaison, handed the gavel to Vice Chair Kirsten Roopenian to present the housing request, telling the room "we are short on money this round of application." Planning Board liaison Justin Finnegan, attending his first meeting, pressed the modular housing applicants to ensure their prefab units are not "stripped-down boxes" out of character with the Pine Lakes neighborhood. The committee will hear four remaining applications Dec. 6.
