Sudbury CPC sets three-night FY26 public hearing schedule

SUDBURY — October 30, 2024 — Sudbury CPC locks in three-night public hearing schedule covering 10 FY26 requests. Chair Sherrill Cline scheduled hearings for Nov. 20 (Fairbank Community Center, Sudbury Housing Trust, Bruce Freeman Rail Trail metal sculpture), Dec. 4 (three Hosmer House applications) and Dec. 18 (Hop Brook Watershed, Regional Housing Services Office, Sudbury Housing Authority). Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran broke the $500,000 Fairbank ask into roughly $200,000 for a second basketball court, $150,000 for a pavilion, $100,000 for landscape design, and $150,000 in soft costs. Member Dan Carty challenged the Housing Authority's $450,000 request tied to 21 Great Lake, citing a 2022 architect's renovation estimate of about $137,000 and asking, "if this was your own money, would you make the same decision?" Cline replied that the agency's mission "is the creation of affordable housing." Public comment will be capped at three minutes per person with a 9 p.m. cutoff each night. The floral beautification request was withdrawn.
