Sudbury CPC refers 10 warrant articles to counsel, rewrites Housing Authority motion

SUDBURY — January 22, 2025 — Sudbury CPC advances 10 warrant articles, approves $7,092 to close a Housing Production Plan overrun. At its Jan. 22 meeting, the committee under Chair Sherrill Cline referred nine revised articles and one new fund-reversion article to town counsel, including a $425,345.85 return of unspent Nobscot project funds. Member Dan Carty forced a rewrite of the Sudbury Housing Authority motion to name "the creation of additional affordable housing units" at four single-family homes, arguing "it's the motion that matters." Member Jan Costa added historical context and a Historic Districts Commission quotation to three Hosmer House articles. Director of Finance Victor Garofalo authorized but cautioned against the $7,092 administrative transfer to cover a fiscal 2024 consultant overrun: "You are okay to do this, but I would say that we should not be doing this." Carty noted the project ran roughly 20 percent over its $36,000 budget. The committee set additional meetings for March 5 and 19.
