Sudbury CPC moves public hearing to April 16, weighs sunset clauses

SUDBURY — March 19, 2025 — Sudbury CPC reviews 12-town CPA survey and reschedules Section 5 hearing to April 16. Vice Chair Sam Markuse, member Dan Carty and Chair Sherri Cline divided up Bedford, Boxford, Concord, Acton, Lincoln, Northborough, Hudson, Maynard, Southborough, Stow, Wayland and Weston, reporting back on sunset clauses, liaison models and applicant rules. Markuse said Acton's permanent project signage "does a fantastic job highlighting how the funds are used" and recommended a "perfect application" sample. Carty called Maynard "a tightly tightly managed operation" with three-year sunsets written into warrant articles, and warned that any Sudbury rule must be formal: "If it's kind of soft and squishy then people aren't going to pay attention to it." The committee moved its statutory public hearing on a new community preservation plan from April 2 to April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Goodnow Library and agreed to invite Community Preservation Coalition director Stuart Saginor for fall training.
