Sudbury CPC hears four FY27 funding requests, takes no votes

SUDBURY — November 5, 2025 — Sudbury CPC hears four FY27 applications totaling well over $1 million, with January deliberation ahead. Assistant Town Manager Victor Garofalo presented a roughly $337,000 request to install replacement universal-access play equipment, additional pour-in-place surfacing and a shade structure at the Smile Playground, four years after a $285,000 article left a toddler structure unreplaced; member Dan Carty pressed on lessons learned, asking "what are we doing differently?" Sudbury Cultural Council Chair Erica O'Brien pitched a call-for-art program for four existing rail trail concrete pads, but members flagged a 2022 town meeting article with more than $300,000 unspent that lists public art as eligible. State Rep. Carmine Gentile asked $600,000 for the Sudbury Housing Trust to fund a planned two-unit affordable duplex at 77 Hudson Road and preserve roughly $1.24 million in reserve for a possible 59 Horse Pond Road redevelopment. Community Preservation Coordinator Ryan Poteat presented a $38,740 Regional Housing Services Office membership fee, the CPA-funded half of the annual cost. The committee approved Oct. 30 minutes with member Harry Hoffman abstaining.
