Sudbury CPC hears four FY25 applications; deliberations open Dec. 20

SUDBURY — December 6, 2023 — Sudbury CPC hears four FY25 requests against a $500,000 shortfall. The Community Preservation Committee took testimony on Hop Brook water-chestnut treatment, the Parkinson Field driveway, Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Phase 3 and the Sudbury Housing Trust during a Dec. 6 public hearing under M.G.L. Chapter 44B. Glenn Pransky said the Hop Brook association's $56,221 two-year request nets to about $19,000 after $37,000 in reverted prior-grant funds. Marsha Rasmussen amended the Bruce Freeman Phase 3 ask from $250,000 to $750,000, which Chair Sherrill Cline pegged as about $154,000 above the Fuss & O'Neill design estimate of $1.25 million; Rail Trails Advisory Committee Chair John Dabrinsky agreed to the reduction. Carmen Gentile told the committee that, against an original $1,031,250 ask, "half a loaf or a third of a loaf is better than no loaf," saying $400,000 would let the Sudbury Housing Trust create its first new deed-restricted unit since 2016.
