Sudbury Council on Aging files revolving-account warrant articles, sets grand opening

SUDBURY — January 17, 2024 — Sudbury Council on Aging advances Town Meeting articles and sets Feb. 6 community center opening. Members voted unanimously to file two revolving-account warrant articles — a $65,000 ceiling for the COA program account and a $175,000 ceiling for the Metro West Regional Transit Authority van account. Member Bob Weidman reported that the council's $125,000 state transportation earmark was halved to $62,500 under 9C budget cuts, with state Rep. Carmine Gentile working to roll the unspent balance into FY25; a separate $137,000 Boston hospital shuttle grant has been filed jointly with Wayland. Special Events Chair Marilyn Chomer locked Feb. 6 for the building's grand opening with a Feb. 13 snow date, featuring live music by Matthew Bell. Director Debra Galloway said program coordinator Ana Cristina has resigned and applications close Jan. 26.
