Sudbury ConCom approves Wayside Inn Road bridge rail replacement, Blueberry Hill drainage project

SUDBURY — August 12, 2024 — Sudbury Conservation Commission clears bridge rail rebuild and Blueberry Hill drainage work. The commission on Aug. 12 unanimously issued a negative determination on a Department of Public Works RDA filed by Bill O'Rourke to replace Jersey barriers on the Wayside Inn Road bridge, in place since a 2019 vehicle collision, with cast-in-place concrete rails clad in historic-commission-approved stone veneer; Darren Stairs of Woodard and Curran said construction will take two to three months. A second negative determination cleared a five-part project at 92 Blueberry Hill Lane for applicant Stephen Ruddy, including an 18-inch French drain, a roughly 100-square-foot native rain garden, retaining-wall repair by Matt Junod of JHS Landscape, and removal of five trees. Chair David Henkels also announced Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone as the Sudbury Valley Trustees' 2024 Distinguished Service Award recipient, and the commission voted to recommend new resident Harry Hoffman to the town manager and Select Board as an associate member.
