Sudbury building committee approves $220,000 in Fairbank change orders, tech purchases

SUDBURY — March 9, 2023 — Sudbury Permanent Building Committee approves roughly $220,000 in Fairbank change orders and a 33-day schedule extension. The board voted 4-0 to approve CP-35 at $117,836.61 to replace unsuitable soils in the septic leach field with Title V sand — down from Colantonio's initial $155,746 submittal — plus CP-10 at $21,637.62 for managing the trash-laden soil pile, and a bundled $10,593.67 for locker bases, LVL headers and a pump-chamber vent. Members also approved $69,801.11 in owner-furnished technology, including $40,195 to Whaley Computing, while flagging a $12,000 cloud-licensing question for Town Manager Andy. Co-Chair Craig Blake said of an extended licensing debate, "We're going to be bantering this back and forth and we're never going to get the equipment in time." The Select Board separately reallocated $268,568.82 in ARPA funds to project contingency and authorized $275,000 for urgent pool piping replacement. The fire station stands at 22.6 percent complete on cost, with $1.372 million spent against a $6.061 million budget.
