Conservation Commission recommends against Brimstone Lane land purchases
SUDBURY — March 13, 2023 — Sudbury Conservation Commission declines to recommend $575,000 in Brimstone Lane land buys. The commission voted unanimously March 13 against recommending the Select Board exercise right-of-first-refusal on two Chapter 61B parcels at 137 Brimstone Lane — a $200,000 offer for the undeveloped portion of Lot 1 and a $375,000 offer for all of Lot 2 — after Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone walked through riverfront, endangered-species and bordering-vegetated-wetland constraints that already restrict development. Member Jeremy Cook said "our bylaws have enough protection of this land. There's not too much development that can actually occur here." The commission also issued an after-the-fact order requiring applicant John Della Prescoli to keep cleared buffer-zone land in gourd and pumpkin production for 10 years, issued an order for a Harvey's Farm Lane roadway serving two single-family lots, and continued three new filings on Robert Frost Road, Singletary Lane and a Sudbury Valley Trustees trail bridge at Lyons-Cutler to March 27.
