SUDBURY -- October 15, 2025, Sudbury Board of Health hands routine septic-pump variances to staff and previews a Section 8 inspection fee. The three-member board voted unanimously Wednesday on a motion by Susan Sama, seconded by Linda Huet-Clayton, to let health agents approve septic-pump installation variances while reserving complex cases for the board, easing a prohibition Public Health Director Vivian Zeng traced to a 1978 town bylaw. Zeng told Chair Carol Bradford the department will return next month with a proposed pre-occupancy inspection fee aimed at landlords seeking Section 8 voucher approvals, citing Hudson as a model and warning that federal HUD cuts could push more work onto local staff. Public Health Nurse Katie reported 408 flu shots given across the fall clinics, and Zeng said Atkinson Pool skimmers held a pressure test at 20 psi for over an hour. Longfellow Glen has generated four new housing inspections amid management turnover.
