Sudbury Board of Health approves two septic variances, accepts director's resignation

SUDBURY — December 13, 2022 — Sudbury's longtime health director announces resignation; board approves two septic variances. Health Director Bill told the Board of Health on Dec. 13 he is leaving after eight years for a position in Framingham, calling it "eight great years" and citing work on EEE response, vaping regulations and the COVID-19 pandemic. Chair Carol Bradford said Framingham is "luckier than they know." The board unanimously approved a retaining-wall variance for a teardown-rebuild at 58 Massasoit Ave., presented by Rob Truax of GLM Engineering, and two variances for 565 Concord Road, Lot B, presented by Bert Corey of DGT Associates, with member Linda Huet-Clayton abstaining. Social worker Bethany Haddab reported the department has exhausted $20,000 in ARPA basic-needs gift cards as electric prices rise up to 64 percent and Hope Sudbury applications have nearly doubled to about 100. Sanitarian Robert reported 136 septic permits issued year-to-date.
