Select Board to weigh nine-member town meeting committee for Sewataro

SUDBURY — December 16, 2025 — Sudbury Town Manager pitches resident panel to settle the Sewataro question. Town Manager Andrew Sheehan recommended Tuesday that the Select Board ask 2026 Annual Town Meeting to authorize a nine-member committee — one resident per precinct plus three at-large, appointed by the moderator and excluding sitting committee members — to study and recommend a long-term use for the $11.3 million Camp Sewataro/Liberty Ledge property by May 2027. Sheehan said the town owes $731,763 in fiscal 2026 debt service against $328,584 in license revenue from operator Camp Sewataro LLC, with the final five-year extension decision due between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2027. He framed the committee structure as an effort to "depoliticize" a property with "a complicated history" and a 3-2 board vote behind the September review. The board took no action and continued the item to Jan. 6. Separately, members voted 5-0 to appoint Gabriel Ciccarello to the Housing Trust and Kimberly Lezak to the DEI Commission, and to ratify Sheehan's updated employment agreement.
