Select Board adopts joint statement on school roof articles in pre-Town Meeting huddle

SUDBURY — December 1, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board adopts joint roof-article statement 3-0 in pre-Town Meeting huddle. Vice-Chair Janie Dretler drafted the statement supporting Articles 1 and 2, the Nixon and Haynes elementary school roof replacements, which carried with two members absent. Town Manager Andrew Sheehan told the board Articles 3, 4 and 5 would be moved for indefinite postponement, saying "we don't expect any opposition." Finance Director Victor Garofalo and Sudbury Public Schools staff would lead the floor presentation on the roof articles in a "team approach." On Ralph Tyler's $12.9 million citizens' petition, Article 9, Sheehan reminded members that the board is not bound by the petitioner's number when calling the required special debt-exclusion election within the Prop 2 1/2 90-day window.
