Planning Board approves Red Bear restaurant permit conditioned on spill plan
SUDBURY — October 25, 2023 — Sudbury Planning Board approves Red Bear restaurant water-resource permit with spill plan condition. The board voted 5-0 Wednesday to grant Red Bear LLC a water resource protection overlay special permit for 694 Boston Post Road, conditioned on submission of a spill prevention plan to address construction-phase aquifer risks on soils with sand to 128 inches. Chair Stephen Garvin pressed attorney George Connors on protections during construction, saying "more is more on spill prevention when you're in the aquifer." Engineering submitted by Cornerstone shows impervious area dropping from 38,100 to 33,715 square feet and 97 percent TSS removal, with infiltration sized for the 100-year storm. The board also appointed Justin Finnicum to the Community Preservation Committee 4-0, named James Flavin to the Design Review Board on Garvin's tiebreaker vote, and continued the Bonnie Burke Estates inclusionary-housing dispute to Dec. 20 pending a Zoning Board of Appeals ruling.
