Planning Board approves Fox Hill stormwater fix, sends Sudbury Crossing landscape plan back for redrawing

SUDBURY — May 10, 2023 — Sudbury Planning Board approves Fox Hill stormwater modification but pushes back on Sudbury Crossing landscape redo. The board unanimously approved a revised stormwater permit and a one-year extension to June 19, 2024, for 38 Fox Hill Drive, where engineer Bernard Hamill of H-Star Engineering replaced a tiered retaining wall with a shorter wall and riprap slope reviewed by Janet Bernardo of the Horsley Witten Group. Members balked, however, at Phillips Edison's revised landscape plan for Sudbury Crossing, where Tony Hasslinger proposed substituting smaller trees to avoid crane damage to mature on-site specimens. "There's no way this board is going to approve this," Chair Stephen Garvin told Hasslinger, faulting drawings that never showed existing trees. Abutters Cherry Pang of 245 Raymond Road and Kevin Westerberg of 239 Raymond Road asked for field staking. The board also deferred two Coldbrook Crossing stormwater bonds totaling $1.26 million to May 24 after the town engineer called the amounts "a little bit low," and unanimously cleared a DISH Wireless co-location inside the 36 Hudson Road stealth flagpole.
