Permanent Building Committee resets Fairbank completion to Dec. 12 in 5-0 vote

SUDBURY — October 16, 2023 — Sudbury PBC locks in Dec. 12 Fairbank completion as Colantonio claim heads to town counsel. The Permanent Building Committee voted 5-0 to approve Change Proposal 132, a no-cost time extension setting substantial completion at Dec. 12, abatement and demo at Feb. 9, and in-building completion at March 12 — delays Vertex PM Chris attributed primarily to Eversource permanent-power schedule slippage. Colantonio simultaneously filed a notice of claim for general conditions and supervision costs, which Co-Chair Elaine Jones referred to town counsel; Chris cited contract Section 8.35 limiting contractor remedy to "an extension of time." Vertex also warned that approving all pending changes plus the claim could exceed remaining project funds. Separately, Neil Joyce reported the fire station is roughly 80 percent complete at $4.6 million spent, with $150,000 of the original $550,000 contingency remaining and occupancy targeted for late October.
