Sudbury Historical Commission approves two demolition plans, continues third

SUDBURY — October 17, 2023 — Sudbury Historical Commission clears two demolition plans and welcomes a new member. The commission voted 7-0 on Oct. 17 to release 196 North Road from demolition delay, allowing the Brennan family to add a rear extension connected through an existing eight-foot window opening. Members also voted 7-0 to clear 510 Hudson Road after owner David McDonald agreed to retain and reinstall the original gable windows and to replace the demolished front porch "maintaining the look of the current shed roof line or a hip roof equivalent." Owner Alexei of 35 Willis Road, still in a six-month delay, told members he is considering splitting his two-acre lot rather than expanding the historic 1,500-square-foot farmhouse; Chair Christopher Hagger urged him to consult a preservation architect. Town Manager Andy Sheehan reported that Alpine Environmental began mold remediation at the Hosmer House under Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran, with completion expected in one to two weeks. New member Michael Wallace was sworn in earlier the same day.
