PBC approves Fairbank acoustic remediation bulletin, extends Vertex for pool oversight
SUDBURY -- November 19, 2024, Sudbury PBC clears Fairbank acoustic bulletin and extends Vertex OPM contract for pool work. The Permanent Building Committee on Nov. 19 unanimously accepted Bulletin 158, authorizing Colantonio to price approximately $200,000 in high-CAC ceiling tile replacement, door gasketing, and rockwool insulation to address a year of sound-transmission complaints from Sudbury Public Schools offices at Fairbank. Vertex Senior Project Manager Chris Eberle and project architect Tom had estimated the work within $2,700 of each other at roughly $180,000. The committee then voted to recommend extending Vertex's contract not to exceed $166,000 to serve as OPM on the Atkinson Pool renovation, with Project Manager Mike Bonfatti on site four days a week during a planned August-to-November construction window. Combined Facilities Director Sandra said the acoustic plan "is not the ultimate solution" but noted "we can't wait." Co-Chair Craig Blake projected roughly $400,000 remaining in Fairbank contingency at close-out.
