PBC approves Fairbank acoustic remediation bulletin, extends Vertex for pool oversight

SUDBURY — November 19, 2024 — Sudbury PBC clears Fairbank acoustic bulletin and extends Vertex OPM contract for pool work. The Permanent Building Committee on Nov. 19 unanimously accepted Bulletin 158, authorizing Colantonio to price approximately $200,000 in high-CAC ceiling tile replacement, door gasketing, and rockwool insulation to address a year of sound-transmission complaints from Sudbury Public Schools offices at Fairbank. Vertex Senior Project Manager Chris Eberle and project architect Tom had estimated the work within $2,700 of each other at roughly $180,000. The committee then voted to recommend extending Vertex's contract not to exceed $166,000 to serve as OPM on the Atkinson Pool renovation, with Project Manager Mike Bonfatti on site four days a week during a planned August-to-November construction window. Combined Facilities Director Sandra said the acoustic plan "is not the ultimate solution" but noted "we can't wait." Co-Chair Craig Blake projected roughly $400,000 remaining in Fairbank contingency at close-out.
