LS School Committee sets Alpine ski fee at $650, names roof building committee

SUDBURY — October 7, 2025 — LS School Committee equalizes Alpine ski and hockey fees, seats roof building committee. The board voted 6-0 Tuesday to set the Alpine ski user fee at $650 with the school covering the full Nashoba Valley season race pass, replacing a structure that had Alpine families paying roughly $835 all-in versus $650 for hockey. Athletic Director Dan estimated a $14,000 hit to the athletics revolving account this year. Vice-Chair Catherine Bitter said the inequity should not have been allowed to stand: "Let's hold ourselves accountable and not wait 10 years to bring a topic like this up." The committee also unanimously seated a roof building committee with community members Nancy Marshall, Brooks Mostue, Bob Jacobson and John Darley alongside members Jack Ryan and Maura Carty. A $27,500 OnSite Insight accessibility-and-capital-needs contract was tabled after member Jack Ryan asked for a competing bid at the full ADA standard.
