LS School Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026

SUDBURY — The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee approved a revised student handbook, a memorial bench gift and a Colorado trip at its August 13 meeting before heading into closed session. Five of six members, with Charles Morton absent, voted 5-0 on each item: accepting a roughly $2,500 Class of 1976 donation for a granite bench, approving the amended 2026-2027 meeting calendar, finalizing the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook with new state-compliant attendance-notification language, and approving a POSH-funded overnight trip to Estes Park, Colorado, for up to two German-language students. Member Ravi Simon told colleagues he still expects a statewide cell phone ban "to get through the legislature," though lawmakers pushed the deadline for conference-committee bills to January.

The meeting closed with a 5-0 vote to enter executive session under M.G.L. c. 30A, Section 21(a), to discuss a personnel matter involving the district's METCO director position.
