LS School Committee approves $500,000 FY27 capital request and 2025-2026 school improvement goals

SUDBURY — September 24, 2025 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee approves $500,000 in FY27 capital and adopts academic-excellence school improvement plan. The School Committee voted 6-0 on both items Wednesday under Chair Ravi Simon, with the capital list split 87.31 percent Sudbury and 12.69 percent Lincoln. Director of Finance and Operations Susan presented $170,000 for a wastewater plant SBI panel, $150,000 for network renewal (with 40-50 percent E-rate reimbursement expected), $90,000 for a 15-passenger athletics van and a Ford dump truck. Superintendent/Principal Andrew said a Level 3 charger to support electric replacements "runs super expensive — and when I say super, I mean six figures," prompting the conventional-vehicle recommendation. The school improvement plan centers on "pursuing academic excellence," introduces AI professional development, rebrands the equity survey as the "connectedness and belonging survey," and launches first-time program reviews in math and social studies. Andrew also announced SRO Kim Mangano will be on maternity leave from October through January, with SPS officer Jess Latini covering LS.
