LS committee unanimously authorizes roof project RFQ for second opinion

SUDBURY — November 5, 2025 — LS committee advances roof RFQ and signals it will keep Jewish High Holy Days on the calendar. The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee voted 6-0 on Wednesday to authorize an expedited request for qualifications for an owner's project manager after the building committee determined a 2023-recommended polyurea roof coating was "an untested method that is new to the market," potentially leaving the towns funding a $3 million to $4 million project that does not work. Member Jack Ryan said taking away holy days families have relied on for decades "just seems wrong to me"; only Vice Chair Catherine Bitter preferred a state-and-federal-only calendar, citing continuity and end-of-year dates. Superintendent Andrew Stephens reported the Sudbury Foundation has approved $155,000 in emergency funding for 17 area hunger relief organizations amid SNAP disruptions. The tri-district calendar meeting is Nov. 13.
