SUDBURY --

TOWN -- The Park and Recreation Commission said the rebuilt Smile Playground is "just about complete" and should be open to the public Thursday, with porous surfacing needing a few days to cure before full use. New shade trees for the site will be planted in the spring. Separately, the department reported that winter ski club registration filled more than 150 slots in under 30 minutes, and live registration for winter recreation programs, several of them shifting from six-week to 10-to-12-week sessions, opens November 15. More information is available at SudburyRec.com.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Lincoln-Sudbury held senior night for its varsity girls soccer team ahead of a match against the Weston Wildcats. Seniors recognized included Ava Noon, Eleanor Johnson, Chloe Zhao, Scarlet Cash, Carol LaPointe, Naomi Sue, Lucy Rayner and goalkeeper Emily Ray, along with captains Nina Fogale, Mikayla Dew and Kim Booth Bulat. Rayner, recovering from a torn ACL, was given the honorary ceremonial kickoff, and Dew made her first appearance back from injury. Play-by-play coverage of the match described a back-and-forth first half with saves by Ray and defensive stops from Sue, though no final score was reported in available coverage. Members of Sudbury Youth Soccer were noted running the sidelines during the ceremony.

Separately, the Lincoln-Sudbury School Committee's consent agenda included acceptance of a $33,249 donation from the LS All Sports Booster organization, which will help fund the purchase of a passenger transport van for the district alongside town capital funds.
