SUDBURY -- The Liberty Ledge/Sewataro Advisory Committee reviewed results of that survey, which closed Sept. 7 and drew 710 public responses, at its Sept. 10 meeting.
TOWN -- Asked to rank four potential uses of the property in order of priority, respondents gave summer camp the highest weighted score, 1,992, with 364 people naming it their top choice, according to results presented by staff member James Goody. Open space and passive recreation ranked second with a weighted score of 1,775, followed by active recreation at 1,106 and community programming at 962. Educational programming, entertainment programming, affordable housing and market-rate housing rounded out the rankings. Among write-in responses, four residents called for no development on the property, four specifically cited camp uses, three said the property should stay as is, three requested affordable senior housing, three asked for more swimming programming and two sought after-school care or programming. Goody said the full 80-page survey document, including comment sections, would be posted to the committee's website. Committee members said the results tracked closely with what they had already heard from residents at an earlier open session and did not shift the direction of their forthcoming recommendations for the property, which has been the focus of the Park and Recreation Commission's push for expanded summer camp operations there.
