Lincoln-Sudbury committee raises athletic fees and authorizes $275,000 in reserve spending

SUDBURY — April 8, 2025 — Lincoln-Sudbury raises athletic fees, taps $275,000 from reserves, and waives a 30-day trip policy. The Regional School Committee voted 5-0 on April 8 to lift the general athletic fee by $20 to $385 and the ice hockey fee by $150 to $650, with a commitment to revisit within three years; Director of Finance Kirsteen Patterson said the district had been "borrow[ing] against a future season" to pay current expenses. Members held back a proposed $60 swim and dive increase pending Sudbury's Fairbank Center pool-rate negotiations. A separate 5-0 vote authorized up to $275,000 from excess and deficiency and a $200,000 transfer to the stabilization fund, triggering a 45-day notification to both towns. The committee also set aside policy IJOA to clear a Debate Tournament of Champions trip to the University of Kentucky after four alternates were elevated inside the 30-day window, and accepted a $4,995 Friends of Lincoln-Sudbury grant.
