Lincoln-Sudbury committee extends calendar review, advances METCO seat policy

SUDBURY — August 25, 2025 — Lincoln-Sudbury School Committee extends tri-district calendar review and moves to add METCO seat. At its first meeting of the year, the committee unanimously approved Chair Ravi Simon's motion to extend the tri-district calendar subcommittee's charge through Dec. 15, 2025, matching extensions in Sudbury and Lincoln, as the group prepares a four-scenario community survey and an October listening session. Members reached consensus to refer drafting of a non-voting METCO representative policy to the Policy Subcommittee, with member Lucy Malsby building on Lincoln's five-year-old model. Member John "Jack" Ryan, Jr. urged colleagues to drop the word "holiday" for Good Friday: "It is observed … traditionally it is called a holy day." Superintendent Andrew Stevens reported LS placed 68th in U.S. News' Massachusetts rankings, attributing the result largely to a methodology that weights senior AP exam participation at 40 percent. Interim Finance Director Susan Bodden, four weeks on the job, debuted before the committee.
