Lincoln-Sudbury committee approves superintendent goals and own four-goal slate

SUDBURY — October 24, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury approves superintendent and committee goals as enrollment drops 22 students. The Regional School Committee unanimously adopted Superintendent and Principal Andrew Stevens's three first-year goals — covering his entry plan, the school improvement plan and the state's New Superintendent Induction Program — and approved four committee goals after lengthy debate over framing routine duties as objectives. Business Administrator Kirsteen Patterson reported 1,461 on-campus students this fall, down 22 year-over-year, with 60 out-of-district placements, up from 49, against a 14 percent state-mandated tuition increase. Associate Principal Peter Aliboff said LS will transition from the ALICE active-shooter protocol to a newer model called ALERT, with staff training in spring 2024. Member Mary Malsby pressed the committee to hold itself to the same smart-goal standard it applied to Stevens: "If it's his responsibility it should not be part of his goals."
