Library trustees say EV charger article never reached Select Board

SUDBURY — March 5, 2024 — Goodnow Library Trustees learn their EV-charger warrant article never reached the Select Board. At the trustees' March 5 meeting, the chair reported that the article — drafted as a backup after a 2023 installation stalled, reviewed by town counsel, and submitted before the deadline — was absent when the Select Board took up capital articles, and that town counsel has not answered three follow-up inquiries. The article specified funding from grants, free cash, the town manager's budget, or the solar revolving fund. The Select Board has agreed to revisit whether elected boards have a guaranteed path onto the warrant and whether the warrant can be reopened. "If it fails town meeting, it fails," the chair said of going forward. The Sustainability Committee is separately moving to install two chargers plus capacity for two more.
