Historical Commission approves two demolition-delay plans with preservation conditions

SUDBURY — March 19, 2024 — Sudbury Historical Commission approves demolition-delay plans for two historic houses with preservation conditions. The commission voted unanimously March 19 to clear partial-demolition plans at 106 Woodside Road and 25 Plimpton Road, attaching owner-agreed conditions on each. Owner Lenny Holt reversed course to keep the original 1873-patented front door at 106 Woodside Road after restoring its lock through Boston Lock and Safe Company, while installing Sierra Pacific aluminum-clad windows; the commission added a non-binding preference for retaining Italianate brackets, wood windows and stained glass. At 25 Plimpton Road, owners David Baroni and Lee Webster agreed to preserve west-balcony balustrades and supporting beams, exterior shutter ironwork, and third-floor wooden shutters. Member Diana Warren called the Plimpton property "one of the most significant properties architecturally in this town, and actually in Metro West." The commission separately approved a CPC yard sign at Hosmer House 5-2 and confirmed signed contracts with Architectural Preservation Studio of New York and Frank and Glory for two Hosmer House studies.
