Historical Commission approves partial demolition permit at 92 Goodnow Road farmhouse

SUDBURY — January 16, 2024 — Sudbury Historical Commission approves 92 Goodnow addition and acts on three other demolition-delay cases. The commission voted 6-0 Jan. 16 to approve a partial demolition permit at the 1790s federal-style farmhouse at 92 Goodnow Road after architect David Morgan of DRM Design Build confirmed every removed brick from the home's original rear wall would be preserved inside a new master-suite hallway. Chair Christopher Hagger initially flagged "a little bit of angst" about enclosing the last exposed exterior section of the wall. The commission also found 106 Woodside Road, the 1889 home of town assessor Elmer R. Smith, historically significant 6-0, and determined that proposed changes at 12 Indian Ridge Road affecting post-1940 additions are not historically significant 6-0. Members separately voted to support a warrant article that would transfer the railroad section house and South Sudbury train station from the MBTA to the town.
