Historical Commission advances MBTA rail-buildings acquisition after Town Meeting win

SUDBURY — May 21, 2024 — Sudbury Historical Commission celebrates Town Meeting rail-buildings win and splits on member reappointments. Chair Christopher Hagger reported the MBTA has authorized town counsel to begin internal canvassing of the South Sudbury train station and railroad section house ahead of acquisition talks expected to run "most of 2024." The commission voted 5-0 to approve up to $500 in new archival supplies for collections consultant Erin Richardson's Hosmer House inventory, and separately approved a $50 overage on a $750 supplies purchase by Vice-Chair Michael Wallace. Treasurer Jan Costa pegged the general fund at $6,025 and the Hosmer Fund at $18,515 as of April. Nominations for Hagger, alternate Christopher Durall and Wallace (to full member) passed unanimously; a nomination to reappoint Diana Warren failed 0-4 with Durall abstaining. Member Margie Katz pressed the commission to establish a written policy on expense overages: "I really think we need to know what our procedure is."
