Historic Districts Commission unanimously denies Presbyterian Church daycare fence

SUDBURY — February 6, 2025 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission denies Presbyterian Church daycare fence after three months of revisions. The commission voted 4-0 Feb. 6 to reject a certificate of appropriateness for a four-foot fence around a proposed daycare play area at 330 Concord Road, across from the town's Revolutionary War cemetery. Applicant Megan Goud said the 48-inch height was required by state child-care regulations and "not something that we are able to say, oh yeah, we can make this exception," but Chair Anuraj Shah, Vice Chair Taryn Trexler, and members Christopher Hagger and John "Griff" Noble said the proposal conflicted with the commission's 42-inch fence cap and the streetscape. Hagger called the cemetery "one of the most historic and hallowed areas of Sudbury." The commission separately approved re-siding at 112 King Philip Road 3-1 with a condition of real cedar clapboard on the front, and approved solar panels at 49 Carriage Way, a dormer addition at 43 French Road, and window replacements at 16 Carding Mill Road, all 4-0.
