Historic Districts Commission clears seven applications, continues two in three-hour July session

SUDBURY — July 2, 2026 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission clears seven applications, punts solar array and church windows to August. Vice Chair Taryn Trexler led the July 2 meeting in Chair Anuraj Shah's absence, guiding the panel through a nine-item docket that ran until 10:30 p.m. The commission approved a Rutledge Properties sign at 353 Boston Post Road at 74 inches wide by 24 inches tall, matching five years of precedent on the building, and cleared Sudbury Valley Trustees to use Azek composite decking at the 18 Walbank Road barn despite member Christopher Hagger's warning the material "does require some pretty harsh cleaning each year." The Wayside Inn's 140-window restoration-and-replacement project won approval, with Sean Critts of Historic Window and Door handling 68 replacements and Dwayne Houghton of Early American Restoration restoring 62 historic units in place. A 31-panel solar array on a 1927 Dutch colonial at 4 Maynard Road was continued to Aug. 6 after commissioners objected to panels on the gambrel front facade. A $69,000 vinyl window proposal from Memorial Congregational Church at 26 Concord Road was also continued.
