Historic Districts Commission clears Confidence Way solar and grilles, backs rail-buildings article

SUDBURY — May 2, 2024 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission approves four projects and endorses MBTA rail-building acquisition article. The commission voted 5-0 on each item at its May 2 meeting, clearing the last non-compliant items at 4 Confidence Way (a retrofit window-grille system installed with "dual lock" adhesive strips), approving a revised 19-panel solar array at the same address with the combiner box relocated inside the garage, approving a fiberglass gutter replacement at 47 Concord Road and a wetlands-adjacent fence at 21 Henrys Mill Lane, and requiring wood Jeld-Wen windows over a fiberglass-clad Andersen alternative at member Peter Iovanella's 258 Dutton Road. The commission also backed Warrant Article 17 to acquire from the MBTA the South Sudbury train station and an 1890 railroad section house along the future Mass Central Rail Trail; Vice Chair Taryn Trexler said town ownership alone "does not guarantee" preservation-grade work and urged a single-building local historic district for the section house. Chair Anuraj Shah and Trexler were re-elected to one-year terms.
