Historic Districts Commission conditionally approves Pecum Road barn footprint

SUDBURY — June 6, 2024 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission conditionally clears 84 Pecum Road barn, defers final details to July. With Chair Anuraj Shah and Vice Chair Taryn Trexler absent, members Christopher Hagger, Peter Iovanella and John "Griff" Noble voted 3-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness covering only the location, mass and shape of Robert Green's 50-by-100-foot barn, letting him file for a building permit before a July 1 state energy-code change. A second certificate covering cupola design, rake board detail, roof color and window and door colors will follow next month. The panel also approved fence symmetry changes at 10 Hudson Road, conditioned on a dry-stacked retaining wall and a three-foot matched fence height, and unanimously approved Unilock pavers and two four-foot granite light posts at 64 Carriage Way. Iovanella's own gutter application stalled for lack of a voting quorum. "I'm praying that water doesn't get in there," he said.
