Historic Districts Commission approves solar, exterior restoration, and SERVPRO sign

SUDBURY — August 7, 2025 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission approves three projects and continues three on tight three-member quorum. The Aug. 7 commission, chaired by Anuraj Shah, approved a 20-panel rooftop solar array at 22 Rice Road presented by Colin Robichaud of CleanEarthEnergy for owner Maureen Smith; a comprehensive exterior restoration at 11 Massasoit Ave. by new owner Grimose Mema in Benjamin Moore White Dove, Black, and Kendall Charcoal with a Stone Yard fieldstone veneer; and a 20-by-36-inch SERVPRO sign at 320-326 Boston Post Road, conditioned on switching from aluminum-and-vinyl to painted wood with a raised three-quarter-inch black frame. The commission continued Danny Murphy's demolition request at 248 Concord Road to Sept. 4 after member Christopher Hagger revealed that the Sudbury Historical Commission's preservation consultant had delivered a draft updated MACRIS form for the property that afternoon. Shah, a direct abutter, recused. "Tearing down a building is about as drastic a move as you can make against historic preservation," member Griff Noble said.
