SUDBURY — October 4, 2022 — Goodnow Library Trustees prune strategic plan, adopt DEI statement and reopen the Friends question. Trustees voted unanimously to strike Goal 8 — a list of action items supporting the Goodnow Library Foundation — from the draft strategic plan, agreeing the work belongs in the foundation's own plan, and added a link in Goal 6 to a state climate-resilience-hub program the library hopes to join at level two. The board also unanimously adopted a website DEI statement committing the library to "advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in all spaces." Trustee Katina Fontes pitched a board-level goals slate including a volunteer-coordination hub and reopening communication with the Friends of the Goodnow Library; trustees agreed to invite the Friends to bring a written proposal to a meeting on Nov. 1, Dec. 6 or Jan. 3. The director reported roughly 1,600 program attendees in August and a $4.73 cost per circulation.
