Goodnow trustees back third try to regrade teen librarian position
SUDBURY — November 1, 2022 — Goodnow Library Trustees agree to lobby town officials directly over teen librarian pay. At the Nov. 1 meeting, Director Esme Green told the board the position remains at Grade 6 despite carrying department-head-level duties, leaving Sudbury the lowest-paid teen librarian in the Minuteman network and driving four turnovers since fiscal 2015. Trustees agreed to draft a letter to the Select Board, Finance Committee and interim Town Manager Maryanne Bilodeau ahead of Green's Dec. 14 budget meeting, after two prior requests were rejected before reaching public review. Green also proposed converting the retiring local history librarian's 15-hour role into a 35-hour Grade 7 position, raising the salary from about $25,800 to roughly $49,000. The board unanimously adopted the library's first written volunteer policy and a land acknowledgement to be read at meetings in January and June, posted online and tied to November displays.
