Council on Aging votes to end term limits, add two alternate seats

SUDBURY — December 8, 2025 — Sudbury Council on Aging votes 9-0 to send term-limit repeal and two new alternate seats to town meeting. Chair Paul Marotta drafted the warrant article amending Chapter 5, Article III of the town bylaws; Select Board Chair Lisa Kouchakdjian, on Zoom, said it was "likely to get on the consent calendar." Tom McGowan of the Sudbury Community Food Pantry told the board the pantry distributed 110,000 pounds of produce and 56,000 pounds of meat in 2024, serves 80 families per distribution day, and stopped giving out coffee after Greater Boston Food Bank case prices rose from $29.50 to $52. Transportation liaison Mary Brauer reported 34 November vouchers issued with no one turned away, ahead of a Friday ceremony marking a $50,000 state grant. Member Don Sherman resigned effective immediately, citing health; Anna Newberg attended her final meeting.
