Council on Aging recommends two members for reappointment, advances tax workoff increase

SUDBURY — April 8, 2024 — Sudbury Council on Aging recommends two reappointments and flags missing state transit funds. The council voted unanimously April 8 to recommend members Don and Anna for second three-year terms beginning June 1, and learned that only $31,250 of a $62,500 state transportation earmark has arrived, with the authorization set to expire in June. Transportation liaison Bob said February Go Sudbury spending totaled roughly $8,995 across Tommy's Taxi, JFK Transport and Uber, with Uber co-pays offsetting about 25 percent of monthly costs. Director Deborah reported 385 new registrants this fiscal year — up from 304 in FY19 — and said the Board of Assessors has endorsed raising the senior property tax workoff benefit to $2,000 for 133 hours, now pending Select Board approval. Departing member Jeff will become president of the Friends of Sudbury Seniors, leaving one council vacancy.
