Council on Aging recommends two members for reappointment, advances tax workoff increase

SUDBURY -- April 8, 2024, Sudbury Council on Aging recommends two reappointments and flags missing state transit funds. The council voted unanimously April 8 to recommend members Don and Anna for second three-year terms beginning June 1, and learned that only $31,250 of a $62,500 state transportation earmark has arrived, with the authorization set to expire in June. Transportation liaison Bob said February Go Sudbury spending totaled roughly $8,995 across Tommy's Taxi, JFK Transport and Uber, with Uber co-pays offsetting about 25 percent of monthly costs. Director Deborah reported 385 new registrants this fiscal year, up from 304 in FY19, and said the Board of Assessors has endorsed raising the senior property tax workoff benefit to $2,000 for 133 hours, now pending Select Board approval. Departing member Jeff will become president of the Friends of Sudbury Seniors, leaving one council vacancy.
