Conservation Commission approves Ridge Hill septic replacement, continues two cases

SUDBURY — April 7, 2025 — Sudbury Conservation Commission approves Ridge Hill septic replacement and defers two filings for missing DEP numbers. The commission voted unanimously April 7 to close the hearing and issue an order of conditions under DEP file 301-1439 for Alice Sapienza's failing septic system at 70 Ridge Hill Road, after Vito Colonna of Cornerstone Engineering described an innovative-alternative system that cuts the leach field footprint by 40 percent. Notices of intent at 20 Tavern Circle (tree removal) and 31 Meadowbrook Road (septic replacement) were continued to April 28 for lack of DEP file numbers, though commissioners signaled comfort with siting the Meadowbrook leach field about 60 feet from the wetland, where designer Evan Carloni said a patented sand filter produces effluent "almost 10 times cleaner" than conventional construction. The board also issued a partial certificate of compliance for 15 Laurel Circle under a 1987 subdivision order, DEP file 301-0208.
