Zoning Board approves Herb Chambers Mercedes-Benz sign package 5-0
SUDBURY — February 5, 2024 — Sudbury ZBA approves revised Herb Chambers Mercedes sign package 5-0. The board signed off Monday on the sign program for the Mercedes-Benz dealership under construction at 141 Boston Post Road after the applicant cut the rotunda Mercedes star from 50 square feet to 30 square feet on the Design Review Board's recommendation and added "parking" to two ground-level directional signs. Attorney Josh Fox of Rollins, Rollins and Fox, joined by Herb Chambers construction head John Welch, also won ratification of a small pre-existing 121 Boston Post Road pylon sign that sits across the line on the dealership lot, with members limiting the grandfathering to repainting and simple repair and requiring any future light replacement to meet the dark-skies standard. Member Jennifer K. Pincus said any wholesale replacement should be sited "on their own property and leave Mercedes-Benz out of it." Welch said the dealership remains on track to open by the end of April. The board also accepted withdrawals without prejudice of case 23-23 at 328 Hudson Road and Dollar Tree's sign application at 421 Boston Post Road, and deferred January minutes to March pending corrections.
