Sudbury ZBA votes 5-0 to seek removal of Russo as liaison

SUDBURY — October 7, 2024 — Sudbury Zoning Board votes 5-0 to ask Select Board to replace liaison Charles Russo. Chair John Riordan said comments Russo made at the July 16 Select Board meeting during the annual ZBA reappointments were "intemperate, injudicious, and largely inaccurate," and that they foreclosed any role as a neutral conduit. Clerk Frank Riepe moved the request, framed as a "respectful" ask that the Select Board name a "fair-minded and open-minded" replacement; member Jennifer Pincus seconded. Riordan cited an earlier Park and Recreation Commission request as precedent. The board, which heard no cases, also previewed an Oct. 21 hybrid public input session at Goodnow Library on a new draft commercial-firearms zoning bylaw — the third iteration after two prior versions cleared majorities but fell short of the two-thirds Town Meeting threshold.
