Sudbury ZBA approves Valvoline oil-change shop on Boston Post Road

SUDBURY — June 5, 2023 — Sudbury ZBA approves Valvoline oil-change shop 4-0 over rival franchisee's objection. The Zoning Board of Appeals granted Metro Lube Realty LLC a special permit Monday for a Valvoline Instant Oil Change at 86-92 Boston Post Road, after accepting into the record an April 24 site approval letter from Valvoline corporate's L. Gail McMullen and a Friday email from VP of Franchising Adam Worsham confirming developer Bob Lattis's authorization. Don Smith, president of Valvoline Instant Oil Change of Boston, objected and said his company was "probably going to pursue legal ramifications." Chair John Reardon ruled the franchise dispute "doesn't really involve Sudbury." The board also approved 5-0 sign changes at 22 and 23 Union Avenue for AG Signs and Graphics, and continued accessory-dwelling and demolition cases at 38 Ruddock and 328 Hudson roads after finding the submitted drawings inadequate.
