Sudbury ZBA approves Camp Sewataro expansion to 700 campers

SUDBURY — November 14, 2022 — Sudbury ZBA clears Camp Sewataro to grow from 650 to 700 campers through 2027. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 Monday to amend the town-owned camp's special permit, extending it to Sept. 9, 2027, in line with the renewed lease negotiated by Select Board Chair Charlie Russo. Chair John Reardon secured a bump in the camp's Sudbury scholarship commitment from 50 to 51 slots; operator Scott Brody, represented by attorney David Wiener, said the added campers would have a "de minimis" neighborhood impact. The board also rejected a building-mounted banner sought by Winn Residential at Coldbrook Crossing, authorizing instead up to three sandwich-board directional signs with a two-year limit, and approved a setback special permit for an addition at 14 Basswood Avenue.
