Sudbury Rail Trails Committee readies wayfinding forum with Chamber of Commerce
Rail Trails Advisory Committee · Meeting of May 19, 2026
Sudbury Rail Trails Advisory Committee finalizes May 26 wayfinding forum as state accessibility order looms. Staff liaison Marcia Rasmussen told the committee the town must submit a comprehensive action plan to the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board by June 21 addressing the Broadacres Farm ramp, with Fuss and O'Neill project manager Nick LaPointe assisting the response. The panel accepted a $25,000 gift from the Friends of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail for maintenance equipment via the Select Board's consent calendar.
Rasmussen said MassDOT comments on the 75 percent Phase 3 design are due May 26, with the segment programmed for federal fiscal year 2029 construction and the Mass Central connection to Wayland set for 2028. Members also flagged e-bike enforcement on the trail, citing state rules that bar Class 2 and Class 3 bikes on DCR trails. A Mass Central ribbon cutting is set for June 23 at the Diamond intersection.
