Sudbury Planning Board weighs $300,000 facilities assessment for May town meeting
SUDBURY — February 8, 2023 — Sudbury Planning Board weighs a $300,000 facilities assessment article for May town meeting. Director of Planning and Community Development Adam Deschano told members that Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran is shaping the warrant article as the first item flowing from the town's $140,000 master plan, which was supplemented by roughly $75,000 from the Sudbury Foundation. Chair Stephen Garvin and Deschano discussed excluding public schools because major school work runs through MSBA, but Deschano said the schools "most likely do need to be included." Member Justin Finnicum, citing professional experience, said a credible study must cover envelope, structural, mechanical and code reviews, warning that "knowledge also comes as a responsibility" if unfunded problems surface. The board also filed its MBTA Communities action plan in January and confirmed a citizens petition banning firearms manufacturing will reach the May warrant.
