Sudbury Housing Trust Votes to Seek $900,000 from Community Preservation Fund

Housing Trust · Meeting of August 13, 2026

Sudbury Housing Trust votes to seek $900,000 from the town's Community Preservation Committee in its upcoming funding cycle. The 5-0 vote, taken at the August 13 meeting, was proposed by member Jack Ryan, who set the figure just below what he called potential "sticker shock" at a round $1 million and tied the larger ask explicitly to public opposition to housing development at the Liberty Ledge Camp Siro Taro property: "If people don't want to give up any land in the Liberty Ledge area, then perhaps we need more money from CPC so that we can start picking up more and more reasonably priced market-rate housing that we can turn into affordable housing." The trust secured $600,000 last year and currently holds more than $1 million in its balance, though an estimated $500,000 of that is committed to the recently purchased Stone Road property, which will be deed-restricted and sold to a moderate-income buyer for roughly $357,000. The trust also unanimously approved small grant No. 136, a $5,200 award for electrical panel replacement at an income-eligible homeowner's residence.

New member Susan Aspidean Chaffee attended but could not vote, having not yet been sworn in by the town clerk.
