Sudbury Historical Commission preferably preserves 1920s Hudson Road garage in 5-2 vote

SUDBURY — July 18, 2023 — Sudbury Historical Commission preferably preserves a 1920s concrete-block garage in 5-2 vote. The Hudson Road owner, Victor Nassiminto, told the commission he had paid roughly $1,000 for a structural engineer's letter declaring the garage beyond repair and pressed for an immediate vote rather than another month's delay, saying "six months and one day from now, this building will be demoed." Chair Christopher Hagger and members Christopher Durall, Diana Sieber, Diana Warren and Catherine voted yes; Jan Costa and William S. Andreas voted no, with Andreas arguing the structure cannot be saved during the delay period. The same meeting unanimously found a circa-1897 Greek Revival cottage at 35 Willis Road historically significant, tied through 1865 and 1897 deeds to the Haynes family. The commission also reached consensus to release three Hosmer House RFQs — a collections assessment, a historic structure report with cultural landscape study, and an archaeological reconnaissance survey — and reported $1,325 remaining in its $8,500 general-fund budget.
